Hello John:

anpa=defeat ?
li moku li toki / eating and drinking (?)
li ike li nasa! / bad and crazy (missing the corresponding "!")
jan lawa li moli tan ni KIN / The king died from this (what about KIN?)

Best wishes,

Gilberto

Yes 'anpa' "cause to be bottom" = "defeat'
'li moku li toki" talking and eating, probably a regimental party
thanks for the catch.
Probably 'kin' is "anyhow" to show that he did indeed die from the horse, albeit indirectly.

Thanks for your response.

But "toki" is being translated as "drinking" (instead of talking)?

(or the other way round, because the english text says as "drinking" and it is being translated as "toki")

King Oleg went to war and rode a horse. He came upon a very wise man and said “Wise man, tell me this: will I be happy? How will I die?” The wise man said “O king, you will become great and powerful. You will defeat all your enemies. You will rule over land and water. No one will be able to defeat you. But you will die because of this horse of yours.”

King Oleg liked this horse, He was not happy. But he said to his troops “My men, give me another horse. Take this horse away from me. I do not want to ride it. I do not want to see it. But I do want it to be happy.”

The war ended. After many years, Oleg and his troops were eating and talking. Oleg asked “Is my horse happy?” But he learned that the horse was dead a long time.

The king felt confused and said “My horse is dead, but I am alive. Damn! This wise man was bad and crazy! I want to see the dead horse.” Oleg went and looked at the dead horse. He came up to the dead horse.

Uhoh! There was a snake in the dead horse. It bit the king and injected venom. The king died from this after all.
